I am Assistant Professor in the Communication and Design Department in Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. Being a visual cultural researcher, I also work as an independent filmmaker. I make  documentary films and experimental video works. My main research interests are documentary, video-art, and new media storytelling—specifically new media documentary. My most recent research is on essay film. I also have essay film projects, which will be designed and produced in the form of new media essays.

I am one of the founder members of Association of Documentary Filmmakers in Turkey. In 2010, I founded Cinema Lab, which is a collaborative research and production platform on cinema. In 2013, I founded New Media_OpenLab (www.nmopenlab.com) for practice-led research on new media storytelling. I also serve in the consultancy boards of several film festivals.
